Roberto "Bob" Lowe
is a freelance writer and former newspaper reporter based
in Appleton, WI. His Out 'N About column for the Time Warner
Road Runner web site focuses on entertainment, leisure activities,
sports/recreation, the fine arts, pop culture, community
events and contemporary political and social issues.
He holds a bachelor's degree in political science and a master's degree in history
from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, where he served as editor-in-chief
of The Advance-Titan, the student newspaper.
He
worked as a general assignment reporter for The Milwaukee
Sentinel and was a staff writer for The Post-Crescent
from May 1974 to June 2000. An activist in promoting the use
of personal computers in the Fox River Valley, Lowe was
a founding member of Fox Communities On-Line (FOCOL), a
computerized local information system now based at the
Appleton Public Library. He also served as vice president
of the Northeast Wisconsin Personal Computer User's Group
and is contributing writer for its monthly newsletter,
User News.
Over
the years, he's also been active in jazz circles, serving
as secretary and publicist of the board of directors for
Janet Planet Enterprises, formed to promote a local jazz
vocalist.
