Stadium. Did you know that Appleton, Wisconsin
has been home to professional baseball on
and off for over 110 years? The first team
was established in 1891 and the advent of
the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers brings the
total number to six teams that have called
Appleton home.
About
the Fox Cities Stadium
Built
in 1995, Fox Cities Stadium not only plays
host to Midwest League Minor League baseball
but also began WIAA State Baseball tournament
in 1998 and the NCAA Division III World
Series and the Brett Favre Celebrity Softball
Challenge in 2000.
With the demise of the Appleton Foxes in
1994, a search to find a name for the new
team was considered. A survey was done of
area school kids to determine popularity.
The result was the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers.
Like the Appleton Foxes, the Wisconsin Timber
Rattlers continue to be the Class "A"
farm team for the Seattle Mariners. Today
Timber Rattlers caps are among the most
popular in the nation.
The
5,500 seat Fox Cities Stadium is owned by
the Fox Cities Sports Authority, a non-profit
organization dedicated to enhancing athletics
in the Fox Cities area.
Fox
Cities Stadium is the newest modern baseball
facility to grace Appleton. Fox Cities Stadium
is nestled in a prime location just off
the major artery through Northeast Wisconsin
(Hwy. 41) at 2400 North Casaloma Drive,
Appleton, Wisconsin.
